We did everything we could to save the relationship, but in the end, we couldn't. We're still friends and successfully co-parent. The kids are 17 now. If there was anything I could do about my addiction, it would be to take back the harm I caused them. My amends to the kids has to be staying sober every day - and that's what I intend to do
