She was born Mary Isabel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien in West Hampstead, England, but we all knew her as Dusty Springfield. When Dusty heard this song in its original Italian version ("Io che non vivo"), she knew she had to record it. She had this song composed by Pino Donaggio and Vito Pallavicini written into English lyrics, and her recording of it became her biggest hit peaking at #4 in June of 1966.
The song was recorded in 1969.
