From August 1974, Dave Loggins "Please Come To Boston" is a lovely, underrated ballad of romantic incompatability. Our protagonist is trying in vain to convince the woman he loves to join him in Boston, Denver, and Los Angeles; she is trying with no more success to convince him to come back home to Tennessee and settle down. Their stand-off is made all the more poignant by his palpable pain, expressed in lines like "a California life is just too hard to build". Dave Loggins is the cousin of Kenny Loggins.
